Chainlink is a decentralized Oracle network, computation engine, and interoperability platform that launched in 2017 and services various blockchains, protocols, and projects within Web3 and beyond. You can think of it as the Amazon Web Services (AWS) of Web3. Oracles provide a way for blockchain-based systems and protocols to access data, legacy systems, and advanced computations that exist outside a blockchain. Data feeds provide external data to smart contract use-cases for DeFi, NFTFi, Real World Assets (RWA), and many more.

Chainlink is like a Spider that has woven a web that puts it at the centre of Web3. Chainlink is becoming a bridge within Web3 and bridging Web3 to traditional finance and the rest of Web2. LINK is the native token of Chainlink that is akin to ETH for Ethereum. LINK is used for fees, governance, and staking. There are ~556M LINK in circulation and 1B total supply with a current annual inflation rate of 7% and dropping. The value of LINK is driven by the potential fees generated by Chainlink, which is driven by the demand for Chainlink services, which is driven by the growth of smart contracts, interoperability within Web3 and of Web3 & TradFi & global trade & commerce. LINK is well positioned to lead and capitalize on the digital revolution, tokenization of RWA, and exponential age we are on the cusp of. Smart contracts are eating the world.

Explain it to me like I’m 5 years old…Imagine you have a bunch of different toys that can't talk to each other because they speak different toy languages. Chainlink is like a super smart toy that helps all the other toys understand each other so they can play together nicely. People who help Chainlink work get special toy coins called LINK. The more toys want to play together, the more valuable these coins can become. And because more and more toys keep wanting to join in, the people who have LINK coins might end up having something really special as more toys join the game!
